Leiocephalus carinatus
When I got back to my car in the parking lot at Green Cay Park, this lizard was on the pavement almost under my car.
Aw that's upsetting, amphibians are the reason I'm going to NC. Main goal is pine barrens tree frog, but almost every salamander there will be a lifer and I am so excited!! Can't wait to see all of your photos from Florida!
Not very many amphibians on the trip. It was pretty dry in most places, except for the deeper water areas. I did see a ton of anoles, and a lot of them were displaying.
Sounds like you have a full schedule through the summer.
We were in the 50's and raining the whole time, not good weather for a herp trip! Have another trip next weekend and again the first weekend in May, so it will be fine. Then I'll be in the field all summer finishing my masters research, and in between going to NC for a week and Mexico for a week :) Did you see many amphibians in Florida?
Ashley, too bad the weather didn't cooperate for you. I lucked out in Florida, with rain just late one afternoon. The temps were a bit warmer than I was expecting, with 3 days at 92F, and the rest in the mid 80's.
I've only seen a bear in the yard twice, both times eating bird seed. Good luck in June, I hope you get your bears.
I'll take a look! I had a trip over the weekend but weather was terrible so I don't have many photos from it, but have been really lazy with uploading them lol. And the fact that as soon as I go to your website the first thing I see is "backyard wildlife" and a photo of a bear....this makes me a hater! I'll be in NC in June, I need to photograph some bears!
Florida was nice, and I got back late last night. I have a ton of pictures to go through. So far I posted 2 days of shooting on my site: http://www.pbase.com/tmurray74/florida_t...
I still have 5 more days to do.
No problem, that tail is a dead give away :) Hope you're having fun in Florida!
