True Katydid

Pterophylla camellifolia

Description:

Katydid. Green with wings that resemble leaves. It has a similar form to a grasshopper (large rear legs). Approx 2 inches long.

Habitat:

Fields of NW Arkansas. This one was living at Pea Ridge Battlefield Park near Bentonville, Arkansas.

Notes:

This one was particularly friendly. It landed on my father's arm and just sat there. We got it to crawl onto my nephew and it just kept crawling around on him.
