Trillium erectum
Trillium erectum is in the Lily Family (Liliaceae). Trilliums are monocots, and are noted for their triangular shape. Red trillium has three broad shaped leaves and three triangular shaped sepals and petals. This plant grows to 1 1/2 ft. tall.
This plant was photographed in its typical habitat, moist deciduous habitat near water.
This photograph was taken in Pisgah National Forest off FS 475 next to Slick Rock Falls (Slick Rock Falls Trail).

Thank you! A friend and former professor of mine told me about this website. I have taken thousands of pictures that I will eventually upload. I see you love moths. I don't know much about terrestrial insects, but am looking forward to learning more about them. I would love to meet another naturalist in the area.
