Thanks Scott for the comment. I'm trying to search deeper. About range of distribution, I actually do not consider it as a prime consideration. If it exist in Kalimantan, why not in Sumatra or Java? after all, not very long ago they all the same landmass. Another thing to consider in the case of Indonesia, this is a huge area, poorly researched (not fully researched yet to be more precise). Even tropicos, eol, gbif, uBio, CoL etc. etc. do not yet cover Indonesia's biodiversity to it's fullest extent.
I'm not saying that I'm not believe hour suggestion, but there are many possibilities. You live in Papua, and you have a big chance to found many new species unidentified yet. [look at dandoucette's spottings, you'll know what I mean]. Let's say we are pioneers on a new region. Sorry if I'm to vulgar...

Hi Tabris. I usually think of Hemidactylus frenatus as that soild grey/tan form too but it is actually quite variable. I'm not familiar with H. brookii but does it occur in Sumatra (or only Kalimantan)? Reading the description, H. brookii would seem to have more/more prominent spines...is that how you read it?

Thank you Scott. I was thinking of H. brookii. I saw many solid grey Cicak here, and I think they are H. frenatus, like the last picture on your link. They always swim in my cofee cup :). What do you think?
