Great, but this is a Common. Boat-tailed have a much larger head, the Commons is fairly narrow. Also, Boat-tailed have a giant tail which this bird does not have.

I've seen boat tailed grackles in colorado

Boat-tailed Grackles are only found along the coast from Texas through Florida, definitely not near Colorado.
