Description:

About 30 cm long without the tail which is also about the same size. Very stockily built animal. Burrows deep into earth and it is a major pest of tuber crops. fearless of cats and when surprised makes loud hissing and grunting sounds.

Habitat:

Near human settlement and agricultural fields.
