Fun fact! The barn swallow is the most widely distributed and abundant of all swallows, breeding across most of North America, Europe and Asia, migrating to tropical Africa, Central and South America, South Asia and Southeast Asia, and Australia for the winter.

Though historically nesting in caves, today they have almost completely converted to building nests under the eaves of buildings, earning the species its common name.
