Cecropia moth

Hyalophora cecropia

Description:

We live in the country on 12 acres, with a pond, 3 acres of woods, open pastures and fields, and lots of gardens. Also, have a barn and 2 horses. This moth was found inside the barn on a piece of barn wood. It was fluttering while hanging onto the wood and then flew out close to my head.

Habitat:

Many areas including urban and suburban environments.

Karen, I updated per your comment. I also changed my ID from gallen2 to Gail Allen. I hope that didn't goof up my account. My daughter introduced me to this application - it is fantastic!!! Thanks.

Welcome to the community gallen2!
I've moved your gorgeous cecropia moth to the arthropods category for you. Now that mauna has correctly identified this for you, please can you update the common & scientific names in edit. Thanks!
