Proboscis Bat

Rhynchonycteris naso

Description:

These bats were described by the Napo amazon staff as being Long-nosed Bats. After some considerable digging, I did not confirm this ID anywhere. Photographed off the Napo River, these bats lined the trees on the forest edge during the day, and would fly off at night to hunt for bugs.

Habitat:

Rainforest, Lowland tropics of the Amazon Basin

Notes:

3-4" in total length
