Single flower stalk, triangular leaves coming up from rhizome.

Habitat:

Tundra, moist places.

Notes:

The flower stalk comes up early in the growing season, withers, and then many more leaves will come up. There are 2 very similar species in this area. This is a medicinal plant used as a cough suppressant.
