Spotting

Description:

Butterfly party

Habitat:

near a moist spot on the ground near Lisitu, Zambia.

Notes:

We get similar collections near puddles made from the spray that's put on cars when they come onto the farm and have to be treated when foot and mouth is in the area. They seem to like the poison.

Had some help with this from another site - "There are 8 species in the photo. You will have to match the name to the butterfly yourself, but the species are: Small orange tip (Colotis evagore), Brown-veined white (Belenois aurota), African Veined White (Belenois gidica), African migrant (Catopsillia florella), Common grass yellow (Eurema hecabe), Broad-bordered grass yellow (Eurema brigitta), Veined Swordtail (Graphium leonidas), Bushveld Charaxes (Charaxes achaemenes) and one which is probably an Albatros/Diverse white (Appias epaphia/sabina). In the video there is also an African Common White (Belenois creona) which is not in the photo."

dotun55 - fabulous shots on flicker. Are they yours? Makes me wish for a better camera. The wiki says only males? Does this mean there are 4 kinds of butterflys here? I thought male and females might look different of the same species? So I was thinking only 2 kinds? On the farms they do this in the dip spray that is sprayed on cars as they drive onto the farm. Could this poisen them?
