I think this is a toad. Light and dark brown patches, black lines, and a little greenish-yellow spot under the eye. The skin is bumpy, and it helps the toad blend in with the sidewalk.
I found it under my recycling bin, the type with wheels. It had just rained, so I think it likes moist places.
