Cup Lichen
Lichen is a complex organism of fungus and algae. Lichen can withstand drying because they can survive severe conditions. They absorb most of its mineral nutrients from the air and rainfall, and are able to with stand great extremes in temperature. They range in size from 1mm to more then 3 meters and come in many different colors and shapes.
Lichens can withstand extreme temperatures and climate and are found everywhere from hot deserts to cold mountains. Tree trunks are most common sites for lichens to grow. I found this lichen on a tree at a park in my neighborhood.
