White Alligator

Alligator mississippiensis

Description:

This one is a true albino. You can tell by the pinkish eyes. Some white alligators are leucistic, they have blue eyes and a defect in pigmentation cells. Albinism, on the other hand, comes from the under-production of melanin.

Habitat:

Many adults are in zoos, as their coloration is a disadvantage in the wild.
