A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Terpsiphone rufiventer x virisis
Black hood and crest, underparts chestnut blotched black. Chestnut, black and white wings. In general the paradise flycatcher is associated with dense savanna and the red-bellied with forested habitation. This is usually enough to keep the two separate and they are usually regarded as separate species. However at the western edge of there range, as here in The Gambia, geographic overlap is extensive and this coincides with apparent hybrids.
Tree and shrub border at edge of formal gardens.
