Spotting

Description:

Green ridged caterpillar. There are two of them in the same tree along with a cocoon that has not yet hatched.

Habitat:

Oak tree in my front yard in Houston, Texas

Notes:

I think this is a Polyphemus Moth caterpillar but I want to get confirmation. I have also been wondering how long it takes for them to go from caterpillar to cocoon and from cocoon to hatched moth.

Thank you! I have been following them pretty closely the last couple of weeks! One of them is in the middle of spinning his caccoon and the other one looks like he is about to as well. He is on a feeding frenzy today and I see some wispy like webs near him!
