Pickerel Frog

Rana palustris

Description:

An adult Pickerel Frog found in my yard.

Habitat:

Yard with adjacent pond.

Notes:

The temperature was well over 90 degrees with a heat index around 100 and full sun. I find it strange, but I often find this species fairly far away from the water - sometimes over 100 feet - and they seem to be more active on land in hot weather like this.

Thanks Joshua. I was using a Fujifilm s4250 for this shot (and most of my older pictures). I've upgraded to a Canon Rebel T3i since then, and usually stick with my 55-250mm IS zoom lens. I'll be upgrading my lens and flash soon.

For under $200, the Fuji s4250 is a really great camera. It can do most of the things my Canon does for a few hundred dollars cheaper.
