Corpse plant

Monotropa uniflora

Description:

Also known as Indian pipe and ghost plant, the corpse plant doesn't have chlorophyll, leaving it white and causing people to mistake it for a fungus. It's parasitic because it lives off fungi and trees. When it gets old, it blackens in color.

Habitat:

I spotted this in a shady forested area, where it's usually found. It needs rich soil to grow in.
