Spot-billed Pelican

Pelecanus philippensis

Description:

Pink pouch, grey-white feathers on back. Orbital patch is pink, which means it is in breeding plumage.

Habitat:

This was spotted in a large water body alongside a busy highway on the outskirts of Mysore city in Karnataka, India.

Notes:

There were painted storks, white ibis, different species of ducks and egrets along with these pelicans. Pallas's fish eagles were flying over the water body.
