Hi Maggie! It's hard to count the spots, one of the markings to ID this beauty. If it has 9, then CONGRATULATIONS! They have 4 spots on each elytra (the side wings) and one split in the middle to make 9. My pronotum (the head) is black with white marks on front. So, I am Coccinella novemnotata, the nine- spotted ladybug an the insect of the New York State. Very difficult to find since its numbers have been dwindling since around 1990.
