Rostrhamus sociabilis
The Snail Kite is a bird of prey within the family Accipitridae, which also includes the eagles, hawks, and Old World vultures. Its relative, the Slender-billed Kite, is now again placed in Helicolestes, making the genus Rostrhamus monotypic.

Thanks Rosa, they are quite common in certain areas. I have been fortunate to photograph them in Panama, Ecuador, and Mexico. Ironically, I missed the one that showed up 100 miles from my house here in Texas two years ago!
Yes! A Snail Kite! I am so glad to see a spotting of one. :)
Yep, there was ample. At least 4 in one spot when we went out for them.
A very 'different' looking bird of prey. Are they are a common sight in that region?
