Walking Palm Stilt Roots

Description:

The Walking Palm, also known as Cashapona, is a palm native to rainforests in tropical Central and South America. It's stilt roots are what make this palm very unique. It's tall, spiny roots system can grow up to 5 feet in height that look like multiple legs. It can send new roots to areas rich in nutrients and severing the old roots, thereby actually "walking" to the food rich locations. A typical walking palm walks up to 40 cm in its life time.
