Looks like a cicada cocoon.

kyleighphelps, I also have a spotting of a cocoon just like yours (no horn like) saddly I have not been able to get an ID on it. Hopefully yours will get ID!!

i dont know the purpose of that horn like thing, some species don't have that. like yours.

I have looked at pictures of hawk-moth cocoon and they have a strange horn like thing coming out of the head area. What is that, and why does this cocoon not have it? Thanks.
