Ardeola grayii
Largely white with dark stripe on back. Beak is touched by blue where it meet the body and black tipped; yellow in between. The head bears a pigtail of feathers.
This one was sitting on the room that houses my neighbour's electric meter box.
Its legs change colour in the breeding season, turning from green to bright yellow during the months of March to September. Some individuals even have red legs; a feature which has been reported in about two percent of the population in southern and western India. (http://www.arkive.org/indian-pond-heron/...)
