Thanks again Forest, i looked at some other pictures of robber flies and it does look like what i saw.
Hi Andrew, did you happen to get any other views of this fly? It will be very difficult to identify without seeing the rest of the body. From the shape of what I can see from this image, I would say that this might be a species of Robber Fly.
