Dark fishing spider

Dolomedes tenebrosus

Description:

large light and dark brown spider. I was afraid to get close enough to measure it, but I would say it is about 4" wide and maybe 5 1/2" long. Larger than the opening of a mason jar.

Habitat:

Woodland area, in sheds and barns

Notes:

found in chicken coop. so far in the last month I have found 3 black snakes and this spider in the coop. I think I prefer the snakes.
