Golden snake cactus

Bergerocactus emoryi

Description:

A rare cactus that usually grows in clusters. The round stems are about three ft long and covered with short spines. In the spring the new growth is a golden color.

Habitat:

Spotted near the Point Loma Tide Pools at the Cabrillo National Monument. The plant is endemic to Baja California and San Diego.
