Orb-Weavers (Spiders)

Description:

Orb-webs are built by most species at night. First a bridge is made. The spider may walk from one bridge to another carrying along a line, but usually the spider sits with its abdomen in the air and lets the wind pull out a silt thread. If the thread touches, a bridge is established. If not, it may be pulled back and eaten When established the spider may reinforce it by walking back and forth, laying down more silk. Usually every few days the sticky silk dries or becomes torn and replaced.
