Mountain Wetlands Thistle

Description:

A Thistle that flowers once a year and is often emersed in standing water. Long pale spines and bright pink to purple flowers. The plant can get as high as 4 to 5 feet tall. Stands of this thistle used to be very common all around the edges of the wetlands.

Habitat:

Edges of mountain wetlands, San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.
