Description:

Blue herons are big birds. They have very long sharp bills that help them catch fish in the water. They pierce the fish with their sharp bills. Blue herons have very long necks along with long legs.

Habitat:

Blue Herons are usually found near water sources. They eat fish for food. This Blue Heron was found at Mahoney's beach in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. The bird was standing in a marshy channel the beach. It was eating fish that were in the water.
