Jumping Spider

Phidippus adumbratus

Description:

Beautiful red, black and white jumping spider with the blue-green chelicera of the Phidippus genus.

Habitat:

Solar light in backyard. This species is found in California but the genus is found in "North America from Alaska to Costa Rica, the Bahamas, Bermuda, Easter Island, Hawaii, and the Greater Antilles."

Notes:

"Phidippus was a slave who was physician to King Deiotaros. Literally, the words means "one who spares horses" in Ancient Greek." - Wikipedia
