Latrodectus hesperus
back yard.
Thnx Bayucca, you can see the eye arrangement quite well on this one. Very simple. Two rows of 4 eyes each .
Hi Jemma, I actually saw that movie, about 4 years back, but it is one of my favorites, so I remember the characters.
Dhirendra, the spider is lovely ,but not it's bite.. Its bite is dangerous because of the neurotoxin latrotoxin, which causes the condition latrodectism, both named for the genus. The female black widow has unusually large venom glands and its bite is particularly harmful to humans
thanks guys. Maria,I did get close to it. In case of Black widows, they are most mobile in their webs. Even then they choose to go into their retreats rather than attack .They do have a strategy for sure.
