Spotting

Description:

These flies are tiny, sizing approx 2-3mm. They come at nighttime in swarms of thousands and are found dead come morning. They seem to be attracted to light and/or heat. Can anyone tell me what they are?

Habitat:

Location: Haliburton, Ontario, Canada Seen in months july and August summer temperatures; warm, cooler at night

Thank you! They are more of a pest than anything but reading up on them, they are actually a very interesting species. Apparently they are a good sign of a healthy aquatic ecosystem. Thx again.
