Freshwater turtle

Description:

Freshwater turtle, about 12 cm long.

Habitat:

Watering hole in a stream.

Notes:

I'm still flummoxed as to the species. It has two visible barbels under its chin and a short tail. I never saw it retract its head to know if it pulls straight back or off to one side. Does not appear to b a long-necked species. Maybe a type of Australian snapping turtle. It found us swimming in its hole very entertaining.

I also found this page that I think is the best. I no longer bother you more with the turtles theme.
