Eastern Giant Millipede

Narceus americanus

Description:

Bright red and black and around 4-inches.

Habitat:

Found on a tree at high elevation. Was only around 60°F and quite damp due to light rain.

Notes:

I spotted a number of these during my hike and the KY giant millipedes seem to be brighter red and larger than the ones I locate in Eastern TN.
