Rosa canina
The bush was about 6-7 feet tall and about 9 feet wide. The flowers were about 1.25 inches in diameter. The leaves were about 2 inches long and 3/4 inch wide.
Spotted growing on the edge of deciduous woods and a cultivated field.
It does indeed help. Thank you for your time and expertise, it is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your comment on the Japanese Rose; Yours is in fact Rosa canina, (commonly known as the dog rose); the Japanese Rose has densely, and I mean densely, prickly stems and occur as dense stands rather than single bushes.
I hope that helps.
