Arisaema triphyllum ssp. quinatum
There are two jack-in-the-pulpits, both 1–2 feet tall and very similar, except that this one has 5 leaflets forming the leaf and the other, A. triphyllum, has 3. Flowers grow on a long, thick spike that is enclosed by a fleshy bract (in this case an enlarged leaf) with a flap over the top. You can see the emerging flower behind the reddish stem of this young plant.
