Spotted Ground Squirrel

Spermophilus spilosoma

Description:

These Spotted Ground Squirrels seemed different then the upland desert ones. As the other ones were more solitary. These were more like a large family. The color was also slightly different. Though they still both had short flat ears and large eyes and they both had faded to obvious white spots on the back, their coloring and size were different. These looked less scrawny and more filled. Color had some tawny color and less white on the belly. They were also more curious.

Habitat:

Found in higher elevation, these about 10,000ft or more. They were close to the forest but in the open floor where they can still have their tunnels.
