Caprimulgus manillensis
An endemic Philippine bird species classified under the family Caprimulgidae (nightjars). It is not globally threatened and is categorized under "Least Concern" by the IUCN Red List (2013) because of a stable population trend. Although it is widely distributed throughout the country, it remains to be not common. The nightjar is nocturnal.
Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland, mangrove, and moist montane forests. It is also found in scrublands and open country.
Food and feeding habits, breeding habits, and movements are poorly known and undocumented. The sexes look similar of about 23–25 cm in length. The male weigh about 59–68 g while the female of the species weigh 58–71 g.
