Beautiful shot! This is a male Anopheles sp. mosquito. You can tell that it's a male because it has very plumose/fluffy antennae. The males have plumose antennae to help them find a female to mate - the little hairs on their antennae help them to specifically recognize the frequency of female mosquitoes' wing beats while flying. I can tell that it's Anopheles sp. because the palps are as long as the proboscis; also, they tend to rest with their back tarsi sticking up in the air. Sorry I don't know the species, but I'm not too familiar with the species in India.
The title of the most deadly animal in the world belongs to the tiny mosquito. According to the World Health Organization, mosquito bites result in the deaths of more than 1 million people every year, the majority due to malaria. But did you know that only female mosquitoes bite humans and animals? Females have specialized mouthparts to pierce skin so that they can get the protein they need to reproduce, whereas males feed solely on flower nectar. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=...
