Sceloporus occidentalis
Mt Diablo
Hi Scott, it's true they overlap and I probably should have left it at species level. I based it on the range description "Found from north of the San Francisco Bay Area south throughout the Bay Area to Santa Barbara County" despite the overlap. There really doesn't seem to be a distinct physical trait that would separate the two.
Cindy, how are you able to choose between bocourtii and S. o. occidentalis? This spotting is on the border between the two subspecies, more or less. I was going to go with S. occidentalis because of that, but because there's always a lag here, I didn't see that you had already ID'ed it :-)
