Description:

grey worm with an orange head, has little white hair. The butt seems to be very dark grey-black. curled up when i picked it up.

Habitat:

the worm was found under 2 inches of soil when i was digging around

It's the larvae (immature) form of an insect such as a moth or a beetle. The orange heads make me think of that it is a species of scarab beetle larvae.
