That's possible too. While looking around it warned that the two are easy to confuse. Just looking at it, it looks more like the horsenettle.

I used to live in a part of Georgia where it grew wild quite a bit and recognized it instantly, assuming it's the same species. Lovely fall picture, made me a bit nostalgic for home. :)

Either that or it is some other member of the Solanum genus. When did you take the picture, as it looks like it is a member of the Solanaceae family, but most of those would be very much dead at this time of year =)
