Lilac-Breasted Roller Bird

Coracias caudatus

Description:

Roller bird near its nest in the cavity of an old tree. Female is nearby, on another branch.

Habitat:

Old trees at the edge of a wooded area.

Notes:

Roller birds are so named because they roll from side while in flight, presumably to display their iridescent colors. I might show off too - if I were dressed like that.
