I didn't know what it was but a guy told me that it was a vole. I thought it was a vole myself but didn't know for sure.

Is there a way to tell a difference between the woodland vole and southern bog lemming other than the tail? With the ears hidden in the fur like that it looks very much like a southern bog lemming to me, but I've seen a few pictures of woodland voles like that too. Might be wishful thinking on my part, since they are rare in Mass. :)
