Prairie Dog

Cynomys ludovicianus

Description:

Burrowing, ground squirrel.

Habitat:

Grasslands of USA. Eat fruits and vegetables. Considered a keystone species as a prey species for hawks and eagles but their burrows are also used by owls. Sadly it is considered a pest by some because of the huge "towns" they create.
