Labidomera clivicollis
They look pretty similar upon first glance, definitely. I didn't even know about this beetle until about a year ago, it's amazing what sorts of creatures pop up when you start paying attention to nature.
well thank you so much for your help ! I thought this was a variety of ladybug unknown to me as it was the first time i came across such a creature in my area !
We have the swamp milkweed beetle in the United States, up through the midwest, so it could be in Canada. If it's not that species, it certainly is a similar-looking one. It isn't a ladybug, however, so you'll want to remove it from the Lost Ladybug Mission. Still, a neat spotting, I always think these guys are interesting. You can find them around milkweed, hence their common name.
