csparr... Looked up Steno bredanesis in my trusty Audubon Guide to Marine Mammals and it looks like a good guess! they are white underneath and have very long beaks. They are also located all across the mid section of the world oceans so its the right habitat. Think you are right, but not sure only because I have no experience with that part of the ocean.

How very sad... so there are still deaths that might be oil spill related. Its "beak" looks a bit long for a tursiops?

ID is not so easy given the angle and the state of decay. I have heard that there are large numbers of aborted dolphin fetuses after the Gulf oil spill so I wonder if this is related.
