Gharial

Gavialis gangeticus

Description:

It’s most impressive feature is its long thin mouth. This one is a female. The males have a bulbous boss on the tip of the snout. She wasn’t full grown, probably only 7 or 8 feet long.

Habitat:

Native to India. Los Angeles Zoo specimen

Notes:

Fun fact: this is my favorite crocodilian species.
