Wild Mint

Mentha arvensis

Description:

Upright herbaceous plant with squarish stems and opposite leaves. Mild mint smell when leaves are rubbed.

Habitat:

Moist wooded area, near fence and cattle field, just above the river plain.

Notes:

Have gently petted this plant, on my daily walks during the growing seasons, for 23 years. Every year it throws up a new stalk, and never gets taller than 3 feet.
